Peak Cycle Links is a local charity set up in August 2010 to promote, deliver and manage popular cycling and walking routes in the Peak District. In particular it is responsible for connecting the Tissington Trail to Buxton station, Buxton station to the Monsal Trail and the Monsal Trail to Rowsley and Matlock station.
Registered charity which promotes sustainable access for all to facilities and sites of interest for walking, cycling, horse riding and water users within the Derwent Valley. The Trust is responsible for setting up the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, a 55 mile walking route from Shardlow to Ladybower. One of the current aims of the Trust is the development of an unbroken braided multi-user access route throughout the entire length of The National Heritage Corridor, an aim which coincides with the main aim of the DVCG.
A one year £2.25 million project, managed by the Peak District National Park Authority and part of a pilot project run by Cycling England, to:
1. create a cycling route from Bakewell to Buxton, including re-opening four ex-railways tunnels.
2. run a social marketing campaign to encourage behavioural change that will see more people cycling, more often.
Sustainable transport charity responsible for setting up National Cycle Network. Aims are to encourage people to walk, cycle and use public transport in order to reduce motor traffic and its adverse effects. Sustrans coordinates the Safe Routes to Schools scheme.
Cycling England is a national body which plans and co-ordinates the development of cycling across the country. Launched in 2005, it replaces the previous National Cycling Strategy Board. Cycling England has recently had its funding .
